Nova Spes LLC ("we," "us," "our") built the Urtext app ("Urtext," "the app") to help people read, listen to, and understand Scripture. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Urtext, you agree to this policy.
Information We Collect
We collect only what the app needs to work. This includes:
- Account information — when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive your email address and the name or display name you provide.
- Optional profile details — if you choose to add them, your birthday (month and day only, never the year), an age range, and your notification and email preferences.
- Content you create — Family Circle posts, messages, comments, and any photos you share in a circle, plus your notes, highlights, bookmarks, and prayer-journal entries.
- Questions you ask — when you use the AI assistant ("Ara"), the question you submit is processed to generate a response.
- Device token — if you enable notifications, a push token is stored so we can deliver Family Circle alerts.
- Diagnostics — anonymous crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) that help us fix problems.
- Purchases — your subscription status, so premium features unlock. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see or store your payment details.
We do not collect your location, contacts, health, or financial information, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the app's features, including your account, Family Circle, and the AI assistant
- To deliver notifications you have turned on
- To respond to support requests
- To keep the app secure and to diagnose and fix crashes
How Your Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us run the app:
- Supabase — secure hosting of your account and Family Circle data.
- xAI — processes the questions you ask the AI assistant to generate responses.
- Apple — handles Sign in with Apple and all subscription payments.
- Google (Firebase Crashlytics) — receives anonymous crash reports.
These providers may only use the information to perform services for us, and we may disclose information if required by law.
Children's Privacy
Urtext is intended for users 16 and older and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your Choices & Rights
- Access & correction — you can view and edit your profile in the app.
- Deletion — you can permanently delete your account and associated data from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing us.
- Notifications — you can turn notifications on or off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
Data Retention & Security
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your associated personal data. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
